Pourtant, des questions primordiales se posent encore aujourd’hui, notamment celles liées à la préservation, dans un contexte de surveillance accru, des libertés individuelles. « Si l’administration va trop loin, les dégâts causés à la vie privée et aux libertés individuelles frapperont de manière aussi grande la confiance en nos réseaux de communications que des actes terroristes et criminels », a prévenu Ed Black, le président de la Computer & Communications Industry Association (CCIA).
