BlackBerry : RIM se plie aux exigences de l’Inde
RIM va en partie céder aux demandes de l’Inde à partir du 1er septembre. Les autorités indiennes auront ainsi partiellement accès aux services de messagerie BlackBerry.
Le gouvernement indien, évoquant des problèmes de sécurité nationale, avait donné jusqu’au 31 août au constructeur canadien RIM (Research In Motion) pour trouver une solution lui permettant d’accéder aux courriers électroniques et aux messages instantanés envoyés via les BlackBerry indiens. Faute de quoi, l’Inde a fait savoir qu’elle n’hésiterait pas à couper l’accès à ces services.
A l’instar de l’Arabie Saoudite, les autorités indiennes demandent elles aussi à avoir accès aux données cryptées BlackBerry transitant sur les serveurs de RIM, situés en dehors du territoire indien.
Selon Reuters, RIM aurait en partie cédé à la demande de l’Inde en promettant aux autorités indiennes de leur livrer, à compter du 1er septembre, un accès partiel aux services de messagerie de ses smartphones. Cet accès sera mis en œuvre sur la base de demandes au cas par cas. Un système de surveillance plus complet et automatisé devrait être disponible avant la fin de l’année.
Cependant RIM se trouve confronté à un autre problème puisque la firme canadienne assure également que ses clients disposent de leur côté d’un système leur permettant de créer leur propre clé. Or, selon RIM, ce système ne permet ni à la firme canadienne ni à un tiers d’accéder aux données vitales des détenteurs d’un BlackBerry.
Enfin le gouvernement indien a décidé d’adresser la même échéance aux opérateurs mobiles afin qu’ils puissent, sur requête légale, activer une surveillance de la messagerie instantanée et des courriels des BlackBerry.
Les Emirats arabes unis, le Liban et l’Algérie réclament désormais, eux aussi pour des « raisons de sécurité nationale », l’accès aux données cryptées des smartphones de RIM alors que la société canadienne va entamer, cette semaine, des discussions avec les pouvoirs publics indiens concernant l’accès à la messagerie d’entreprise.
