L‘offre de catch-up TV était très attendue chez Free. Le groupe Iliad vient d’annoncer cette semaine le lancement en bêta du service Freebox TVReplay.
Les abonnés triple play du FAI (Free ou Alice) peuvent visionner à volonté les programmes de 33 chaînes* dans les 7 jours qui suivent leur diffusion.
Free renforce ainsi son offre audiovisuelle : la catch-up TV entre en complément de son offre « maison » de vidéo à la demande par souscription (SVOD en anglais) ou le service « Canal Plus à la demande avec Free ».
Ce bouquet de télévision de rattrapage est essentiellement alimenté par des chaînes thématiques mais on note un grand absent : TF1.
Difficile de savoir quand Free aura accès à la catch-up TV de TF1 ? Le service est mis à disposition des abonnés Bbox (Bouygues Telecom, qui à l’instar du groupe TF1, fait partie du groupe Bouygues).
De plus, les négociations avec Orange avancent plus vite : depuis début juin, le premier FAI français peut offrir à ses abonnés l’accès au portail MyTF1 (offre de contenus IPTV). Quant au volet catch-up TV de TF1 chez Orange, cela pourrait vraiment se concrétiser « dans le courant de l’été ».
En coulisse, c’est la société Hubee qui a monté le portail Free de télévision de rattrapage sur la télévision sur IP. Elle se présente comme le partenaire technique de référence de Free pour toutes les applications de télévision à la demande (VOD, catch-up, services interactifs sur TV).
Ce projet a été conçu, développé et mis en oeuvre en moins de six mois « à des coûts économiques très compétitifs », précise Hubee.
Avec un client exigeant comme Free, on ne doute pas une seconde que l’investissement ait été minutieusement calculé.
