Afin de renforcer leur influence sur le marché américain, Gemalto et VeriFone Systems annoncent qu’ils entrent dans un « partenariat stratégique global » dans la recherche de nouvelles solutions de paiement par carte à puce basées sur le standard de paiement EMV (en lien avec les technologies sans contact dont la NFC).
Mais le point le plus important de l’accord est le désengagement de Gemalto dans l’activité de terminaux de paiement (POS) concentrée en France qui serait cédée à l’américain VeriFone. Des négociations exclusives ont été lancées dans ce sens.
En contrepartie, Gemalto devient le fournisseur privilégié des modules sans fil « Machine-to-Machine » (M2M) et des solutions associées pour les systèmes de paiement VeriFone.
En juin, afin de se renforcer sur le segment M2M en pleine croissance, Gemalto avait acquis Cinterion Wireless Modules pour 163 millions d’euros.
Sur le troisième trimestre 2010, Gemalto a réalisé un chiffre d’affaires de 500 millions d’euros (contre 401 millions d’euros à la même période de 2009).
« Notre activité bénéficie de fondamentaux et de perspectives solides. Nous poursuivons notre mission qui consiste à sécuriser et simplifier l’usage du monde numérique et sans-fil qui se développe devant nous », indique la société sur son communiqué (fichier PDF) en guise de perspective.
Le groupe, qui dispose d’un effectif de 10 000 personnes dans le monde, compte afficher un résultat d’exploitation de 300 millions d’euros à l’échéance 2013.

We find it to be a thing that really has no relevance to the current topic at hand. It can be entertaining to permit these kinds of things to happen alas it happens anyway even when you dont want it to but thats just the way it is.
This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of « neighbors » will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune « Social » is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
