Malgré la crise économique, Big Ble ne renonce à ses velléités de rachats. Ainsi, selon le quotidien indien Business Standard, IBM et son homologue Satyam, quatrième société de services en ingénierie informatique indienne, seraient actuellement en discussions. Ces pourparlers pourraient aboutir au rachat de la SSII Satyam par IBM. L’Inde est déjà un pays connu pour Big Blue: le groupe américain y emploie plus de 73 000 personnes.
IBM avait déjà déclaré être intéressé par le rachat de la SSII indienne en 2006, mais celle-ci avait alors démenti toute rumeur de pourparlers. Mais la cession semble aujourd’hui inévitable. La société indienne se trouve en effet en bien mauvaise posture. Après la révélation, en janvier dernier, d’une fraude comptable d’un montant d’un milliard de dollars perpétrée par Ramalinga Raju, son président fondateur, Satyam se voit dans l’obligation de partir à la recherche d’un repreneur.
Les autorités indiennes ont d’ores et déjà émis des conditions à respecter pour les entreprises souhaitant lancer une OPA sur Satyam : l’acquéreur choisi devra racheter 31% du capital, dans un premier temps, puis 20% dans les trois années suivantes, soit au total, 51% du capital de la SSII.
Satyam devrait annoncer le nom de son acquéreur la semaine prochaine. Mais Big Blue ne serait pas le seul à être sur les rangs. Larsen & Toubro, actuel actionnaire de la SSII à hauteur de 12%, le groupe Spice ou la société Essar étudieraient aussi le dossier.
