La cinquième version de Brightcove, plate-forme de gestion de vidéos, vient de sortir.
Les nouvelles fonctions intégrées sont destinées à « s’affranchir de la complexité liée à la publication et la distribution de vidéo sur de multiples terminaux et points de contact », considère Jeremy Allaire, P-DG de Brightcove cité dans le communiqué.
Passage obligé pour que les éditeurs gagnent en visibilité sur Internet : la synchronisation avec YouTube.
Un client Brightcove peut pousser automatiquement le contenu vidéo et les métadonnées descriptives simultanément sur leurs sites Web et sur YouTube, « tout cela en un seul clic ».
Concernant l’univers Apple, Brightcove 5 propose le streaming HTTP Apple c’est à dire la diffusion vidéo « multi-débits » (3G et Wi-Fi) pour les terminaux Apple iOS (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad).
L’éditeur américain de solution vidéo fournit également deux nouvelles applications : la première dédiée à la tablette numérique tactile de la « marque à la pomme » et la seconde pour son smartphone.
La nouvelle version de Brightcove 5, accessible en mode SaaS, propose des améliorations dans les kits de développement d’applications (SDK) pour iOs et Android pour les applications mobiles vidéo.
Elle propose aussi des capacités d’analyse étendues (une douzaine de nouveaux indicateurs, dont des mesures intégrées au player) ou avancées pour HTML5 (développées en partenariat avec TubeMogul).
Dans le domaine du streaming HD (en live et contrôle DVR pour revenir en arrière lors d’un évènement en direct), Brightcove 5 s’appuie sur la technologie HD d’Akamai.
Autres évolutions recensées : des Smart Players multi-plateformes (création et personnalisation de players vidéo avec l’intégration en Flash et en HTML5 simplifiée par un code d’intégration standard unique) et un chargement vidéo accéléré (« jusqu’à 20 fois plus rapidement, quelle que soit la taille du fichier ») via la technologie Aspera.
Difficile de concilier tout les environnements vidéo parfois conflictuels. Dans la guerre des codecs vidéo, Brightcove a annoncé en mai dernier qu’il supportera en standard les formats H.264 et WebM pour la lecture de vidéo sous Adobe Flash et HTML5.
Il a pris position alors que Google venait de lancer le projet de standard ouvert WebM et d’ouverture du codec VP8.
Il existe trois éditions de la plate-forme Brightcove 5 (« Express », « Pro » et « Enterprise »). Toutes les nouvelles fonctionnalités devraient arriver d’ici mi-janvier 2011. Fondée en 2004, Brightcove recense 2300 éditeurs de médias dans 50 pays.
L’éditeur américain a ouvert un bureau parisien dans le courant du printemps.
