Une nouvelle qui a été accueillie froidement par les marchés financiers, l’action subissant également les conséquences de résultats en demi-teinte, en dépit d’un bon chiffre d’Affaires supérieur à 1 milliard de dollars et de bénéfices engrangés en hausse sur un an, à 72 millions de dollars.
Aux journalistes américains l’interrogeant et semblant surpris de son départ annoncé, Paul Curlander, âgé de 57 ans, a répondu : « J’ai été P-DG de Lexmark pendant douze ans et demi. Durant ce temps, Hewlett-Packard a connu quatre P-DG et Xerox cinq, j’ai donc du mal à voir pourquoi les gens devraient être surpris par cela ».
