Recherche : AOL rempile avec Google
Sur le volet moteur de recherche, un nouvel accord global AOL-Google lie les deux parties pour une durée de cinq ans. Il touche les sites du réseau AOL mais aussi ses services mobiles. Avec un bonus YouTube.
AOL vient de renouveler sa confiance à Google pour le volet de la recherche Internet.
L’accord concerne d’abord le portail AOL mais aussi les autres services en ligne de son réseau comme MapQuest ou Engadget.
L’ancien contrat liant AOL et Google allait expirer fin décembre. Le nouvel accord, basé sur un partage des revenus publicitaires, lie les deux parties pour une durée de cinq ans.
Il est même étendu. Ainsi, AOL va intégrer la recherche Google dans ses services mobiles. Tandis qu’AOL rendra les vidéos diffusées sur ses portails accessibles sur YouTube (propriété de Google).
Cela fait dix qu’AOL est lié à Google dans le domaine de la recherche en ligne et des retombées publicitaires qui en découlent (par le biais de l’exploitation des liens sponsorisés).
La part de marché du réseau AOL dans le segment de la recherche est réduite à portion congrue aux Etats-Unis (2,3% soit 365 millions de requêtes pour le mois de juillet selon ComScore).
Il se trouve en cinquième position derrière Google, Microsoft, Yahoo et Ask.com.
En termes d’audience globale, le réseau d’AOL affiche 107,5 millions de visiteurs uniques pour le mois de juillet.
