Research in Motion, fabricant du smarphone BlackBerry, compte prendre position sur le marché des tablettes numériques d’ici la fin de l’année cette année.
Selon Gizmodo, le constructeur canadien préparerait un appareil « compagnon » destiné à concurrence l’iPad d’Apple. Sa sortie serait prévue en décembre.
Cette tablette disposerait d’un écran 8,9 pouces, d’une connexion Bluetooth en lien avec une BlackBerry, le Wi-Fi est intégré…La future tablette BlackBerry proposera des fonctionnalités multimédia comme l’e-book (livre électronique), l’accès Internet + e-mail, outils de gestion des photos…Mais, a priori, il ne comportera pas de module intégré de téléphonie mobile.
RIM compte donc faire partie des challengers de l’iPad. Tout comme des mastodontes de l’IT comme Samsung, Sony ou HP qui pourrait monter une tablette sous WebOS (Palm).
Selon Boy Genius Report qui aurait révélé en premier des éléments sur ce projet RIM, le concepteur du BlackBerry aurait même développé une première version d’une tablette avec un écran mono-chrome avant les pré-annonces iPad. C’est de bonne guerre.
