La société américaine en faillite Escom a peut-être trouvé un acquéreur pour l’un des noms de domaine les plus générX qu’il possède actuellement : Sex.com.
Il s’agirait de Clover Holdings, société enregistrée dans l’archipel de Saint-Vincent-et-les-Grenadines (« un État des Caraïbes, situé entre Sainte-Lucie et la Grenade » selon Wikipedia).
Montant de la transaction évoqué : 13 millions de dollars.
L’offre de reprise de Sex.com par Clover avait été déposée en juillet.
Selon l’avocat d’Escom, c’est la plus alléchante parmi les douze propositions reçues après la suspension de la procédure d’enchère en mars en raison de la dégradation de la situation financière de l’entreprise.
Le rachat pourrait être bouclé d’ici la fin du mois. Un tribunal californien en charge des faillites des entreprises devrait examiner ce marché le 27 octobre.
En l’état actuel, Sex.com est exploité comme un répertoire basique de sites pour adultes.
Il reste un grand mystère : on ne connaît pas l’activité de cette mystérieuse holding cachée dans un paradis fiscal.
En 2007, le nom de domaine Porn.com avait été racheté pour un montant de 9,5 millions de dollars.
