Les utilisateurs mobiles de Twitter se multiplient
Si Twitter compte plus de 145 millions d’utilisateurs, la part de ceux utilisant le service de micro-blogging à partir de leur mobile a grimpé de 62% depuis la mi-avril.
Twitter fédère actuellement plus de 145 millions d’utilisateurs. Une popularité croissante acquise notamment grâce au développement d’applications mobiles Twitter pour les différentes plates-formes existantes.
En outre, le co-fondateur du service de micro-blogging, Evan Williams, a souligné dans un récent communiqué, qu’à ce jour, il existe quelques 300 000 applications tierces utilisant le protocole OAuth, qui permet l’authentification à une API sécurisée, pour l’écosystème Twitter.
Mais si 78% des connexions au site de micro-blogging s’effectuent toujours depuis l’interface twitter.com, les accès à la plate-forme depuis un terminal mobile se multiplient.
Evan Williams a ainsi souligné que, depuis avril dernier, le nombre d’utilisateurs mobiles a progressé de 62%, et que maintenant, 16% des nouveaux membres accèdent à directement à Twitter depuis leur mobile, contre seulement 5% en avril…
Si le service de micro-blogging dispose depuis quelques mois de sa propre application officielle pour l’iPhone et l’iPad, suite au rachat de Tweetie en avril dernier, Twitter a également a également sorti en mai dernier sa première application officielle pour les smartphones Google Android.
Par ailleurs, des applications tierces spécial Twitter, développées par d’autres entreprises, existent aussi pour les smartphones équipés d’autres OS.
RIM a ainsi mis au point l’outil Twitter pour BlackBerry. Des applications externes comme TweetDeck et TwitPic ont aussi la cote. Pour mieux se rendre compte de l’impact des différents accès à Twitter existants, le site de micro-blogging a publié un Top 10 des plates-formes les plus utilisées.
Arrivent en tête le site Web twitter.com (78% des accès), la version mobile m.twitter.com (14%) et les SMS (8%). Suivent ensuite tout le panel des applications mobiles disponibles : Twitter pour iPhone (8%), Twitter pour BlackBerry (7%), TwitPic (4%) et TweetDeck (3%).
