Microsoft intensifie sa lutte contre le piratage informatique en protégeant davantage Windows 7.
La firme de Redmond va ainsi mettre à jour son dispositif Windows Activation Technologies (WAT), qui a pris l’année dernière la succession de l’utilitaire Windows Genuine Advantage, et permet de vérifier l’authenticité des licences Windows 7 installées sur les ordinateurs.
A partir du 16 février prochain, date de la prochaine mise à jour, l’outil WAT pourra détecter à la volée 70 dispositifs élaborés pour pirater Windows 7 et installer des copies pirates du système d’exploitation.
Cette mise à jour anti-piratage n’est pas obligatoire : elle sera proposée en téléchargement la semaine prochaine, puis fera son apparition dans le programme Windows Update à la fin du mois via une mise à jours qualifiée d’ »importante ».
Si l’outil Windows Activation Technologies détecte une copie pirate de Windows sur un PC, son fond d’écran deviendra noir.
Un filigrane blanc fera ensuite son apparition sur l’écran pour signaler que la licence utilisée n’est pas authentique. Son utilisateur verra enfin apparaître une série de messages d’avertissement précisant qu’il se sert d’une copie piratée de Windows 7.
Rappelons que, selon les dires de Microsoft, 60 millions de licences Windows 7 ont été écoulées depuis le lancement de l’OS en octobre dernier.
