PartyGaming et Bwin font la paire dans les jeux en ligne
Une fusion est annoncée entre PartyGaming et Bwin. En regroupant leur force, les deux opérateurs européens de jeux en ligne prennent une position de leadership.
Il y a de la consolidation dans l’air dans les jeux en ligne.
L’autrichien Bwin et le britannique PartyGaming viennent d’annoncer leur intention de fusionner afin de constituer le plus gros opérateur européen coté en Bourse. La nouvelle entité sera présente sur les principaux segments de jeux d’argent et de hasard sur Internet : paris sportifs, poker, casinos.
Une fois le rapprochement finalisé, les deux opérateurs espèrent dégager des synergies permettant d’économiser 55 millions d’euros par an.
En cumulant les résultats financiers (hors optimisation), Bwin et PartyGaming affiche un chiffre d’affaires 2009 de 682 millions d’euros et et un Ebitda (résultat brut moins la totalité des frais généraux) de 196 millions d’euros.
Le nouveau groupe, qui sera coté à la Bourse de Londres, sera co-présidé par Jim Ryan (PartyGaming) et Norbert Teufelberger Bwin).
Les nouveaux associés considèrent que cette fusion a du sens en raison de leurs expansions complémentaires respectives en termes de produits, de prises de positions sur les marchés et de distribution.
Selon Les Echos, 51,6% du capital du nouvel ensemble appartiendra aux actionnaires de Bwin et 48,4% reviendra à ceux de PartyGaming.
Bwin – PartyGaming : qui fait quoi ?
Créé en 1997, PartyGaming exploite des marques comme PartyPoker.com, PartyCasino.com ou PartyBets.com. La société britannique dispose de licences légales fournies par les autorités de Gibraltar mais aussi par la France, l’Italie, et le Royaume-Uni.
En 2009, PartyGaming a conclu un accord de reprise de l’américain WPT Enterprises (qui exploite le World Poker Tour), pour 12,3 millions de dollars en cash.
Quant à Bwin, sa création remonte à 1999 à Gibraltar. Le service de jeux en ligne a d’abord été fondé par l’entreprise Simon Bold puis repris à 100 % en 2001 par l’opérateur autrichien Bwin Interactive Entertainment.
Au dernier pointage, il recense 20 millions de membres à ses cercles de jeux en ligne ancrés sur 25 marchés.
En France, Bwin a décroché une licence ARJEL pour se lancer dans les paris sportifs et le poker en France. Il est également le partenaire de référence de la plate-forme de jeux Sajoo (Groupe Amaury) avec une participation de 45%.
De son côté, PartyGaming dispose également du label ARJEL. Début 2010, il s’est rapproché du PMU pour l’accompagner dans ses développements portant sur le poker en ligne.

Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
