Hitachi Data Systems (HDS), filiale du groupe japonais Hitachi spécialisée dans les solutions de stockage, a acquis discrètement ParaScale.
Cette start-up américaine fournit des solutions logicielles pour imbriquer le stockage multi-protocole (NFS, HTTP, FTP) et le cloud.
Selon StorageNewsletter, ce rapprochement n’a pas fait l’objet d’un communiqué de presse. Tout juste trouve-t-on une mention dans une récente contribution blog de Miki Sandorfi, en qualité de « chief strategist » chez HDS. Le montant de la transaction n’est pas précisé.
Localisée à Cuppertino en Californie, la société ParaScale développe des solutions de virtualisation pour le stockage adaptée aux environnements cloud.
Elle a levé plus de 11 millions de dollars pour développer son business auprès de fonds comme Charles River Ventures et Menlo Ventures.
Dans une interview accordée à Channel Insider US en mars 2010, Sajai Krishnan, P-DG de ParaScale, utilisait une métaphore automobile pour décrire l’activité de sa société.
« ParaScale fournit la voiture qui est proposée en location par des fournisseurs d’hébergement d’applications dans le cloud public. La « voiture » est également commercialisée par le revendeur qui conçoit et déploie des environnements de cloud privé à l’échelle du Pétaoctet pour le compte des entreprises. »
