Twitter carbure à 50 millions de « tweets » par jour
Selon Twitter, 50 millions de « tweets » sont publiés chaque jour sur le site de micro-blogging. Le nombre de « gazouillis » postés quotidiennement a connu une croissance de 1 400% en 2009.
C’est Twitter lui-même qui le dit : le service de micro-blogging comptabilise actuellement 50 millions de « tweets » (« gazouillis ») par jour, soit une moyenne de 600 de ces courts messages de 140 caractères maximum par seconde.
Twitter tient à préciser que ce chiffre de 50 millions de mini-messages ne prend pas en compte les spams.
Sur le blog officiel de Twitter, Kevin Weil, analyste au département Statistiques du site Web, rappelle que le réseau social a enregistré, en 2007, 5 000 tweets par jour, pour atteindre 300 000 en 2008 et 2,5 millions en 2009.
Selon Twitter, le nombre de « gazouillis » publiés chaque a connu une progression impressionnante de 1 400% l’année dernière, pour atteindre les 35 millions de tweets postés quotidiennement à la fin 2009.
Toutefois, si Twitter n’a jamais officiellement dévoilé le nombre de ses membres, une étude récemment effectuée par RJMetrics estime que le service de micro-blogging compte quelques 75 millions d’utilisateurs, avec 6,2 millions de nouveaux comptes de créés chaque mois.
Toutefois, Twitter semble avoir des difficultés à fidéliser ses membres : 8 abonnés du site sur 10 n’ont pas publié plus de 10 messages.
En outre, 40% des inscrits n’ont jamais posté un seul tweet et environ 25% des profils créés sur le réseau social n’ont aucun “follower”, c’est-à-dire d’internautes suivant leurs publications.
