Le rapprochement entre CommentCaMarche et Benchmark Group (Le Journal du Net, L’Internaute, Copains d’avant…) est confirmé.
Les deux groupes indiquent être « en négociation exclusive » pour aboutir à une fusion.
Objectif affiché : « créer un groupe de référence dans les contenus en ligne ». En termes d’audience Internet, le nouveau groupe CommentCaMarche/Benchmark devrait cumuler près de 20 millions de visiteurs uniques par mois en France.
L’effectif global s’élève à 175 personnes. Cette nouvelle configuration vise l’international : les services seraient déployés dans six langues. A travers le réseau Kioskea.net, CommentCaMarche dispose de versions en anglais, espagnol, portugais, italien et allemand.
Selon CFnews qui avait sorti une indiscrétion à ce sujet avant l’annonce officielle, le montant du rachat porterait sur 60 millions d’euros (non confirmé). Sur le front du financement, R Capital Management (capital développement), Time Investors (« plate-forme d’investissement « ) et IDinvest (capital-risque, ex-AGF Private Equity) vont mener une augmentation de capital.
« Pour compléter l’opération, une dette d’acquisition sera levée auprès d’un syndicat bancaire constitué de BNPParibas et OBC; parallèlement, OSEO apportera son soutien via un prêt. »
Le nouveau groupe sera dirigé par Benoît Sillard (actuel P-DG de CommentCaMarche, ex-délégué interministériel aux usages Internet, ex-Fun Radio), Jean-François Pillou (fondateur et DG) et Isabelle Weill (régie publicitaire).
Du côté de Benchmark Group qui avait tenté une introduction en Bourse en novembre 2000 (projet suspendu en raison des « mauvaises conditions de marché »), il est précisé que « les managers opérationnels restent en place » tandis que les fondateurs Corinne et Christophe Delaporte « assureront un rôle transversal de conseil stratégique ».
Dans une interview accordée à CBNews début 2010, il était précisé que Benchmark Group, qui dispose de deux pôles d’activité (consulting et médias en ligne), « est rentable depuis son origine » (17 millions d’euros de chiffre d’affaires et 3 millions d’euros de résultat brut avant impôts sur 2009).
Dans une interview sur le BLog MCI en date de février 2010, Isabelle Weill précisait que le portail Commentcamarche (« Wikipedia pratique sur les nouvelles technologies ») atteignait une audience de 11 millions de visiteurs uniques.
Fin 2007, une première déclinaison thématique est apparue : Droit-Finances.net puis Santé-Médecine.net.
