Navigateur : Chrome 6 en version définitive fait son entrée
Google Chrome 6 est officiellement disponible. Cette mouture est plus rapide que jamais et propose quelques nouveautés intéressantes (à défaut d’être révolutionnaires).
La version stable du navigateur Web Google Chrome 6 fait maintenant son entrée, comme Silicon.fr l’avait annoncé précédemment.
Une belle façon pour le groupe Internet de fêter les deux ans de son butineur.
Google Chrome (version 6.0.472.53) propose plusieurs nouveautés, comme la synchronisation des extensions, l’auto-remplissage des formulaires et une interface graphique remaniée et simplifiée.
Google Chrome 6 supporte également les vidéos au format WebM.
Enfin, il intègre un lecteur de PDF très rapide. Ce dernier est désactivé par défaut, mais un petit tour sur la page « chrome://plugins/ » permettra de corriger ce problème.
Autre bénéfice apporté par cette nouvelle version, les performances sont (encore) améliorées. Le moteur JavaScript est ainsi dorénavant près de 2,7 fois plus véloce que celui intégré au sein de Firefox 3.6.8 (selon le test SunSpider 0.9.1).
La stabilité du logiciel devrait – elle aussi – être en progrès.
Les développeurs profitent de cette sortie pour corriger seize failles de sécurité, dont huit sont classées comme étant élevées, mais aucune en tant que vulnérabilité critique.
La compagnie débourse à cette occasion 4337 dollars pour remercier les experts en sécurité ayant découvert ces défauts.
Rappelons que Google Chrome est aujourd’hui utilisé par plus d’un internaute sur dix. La prochaine version de ce butineur devrait proposer la gestion du WebGL et un support partiel de l’accélération graphique.

Les nouvelles fonctionnalités sont très bien, mais quelle idée de changer la couleur. Il ne faut pas tomber dans le démon de Microsoft qui consiste à tout le temps tout changer.
Une bonne manière (qui est souvent celle des logiciels open source) consiste à corriger les défauts, ajouter des fonctionnalités et à ne pas toucher ce qui fonctionne parfaitement. Tout changement qui n’est pas un progrès est une nuisance.
